MATCH REPORT Sunday 8th May 2011.
Columbia Reserve Wheelers Hill
Waverley Hawks v St. Kilda City Blacks
The blacks all arrived with ample time for Joe to run through lots of warm ups and stretches and even some skills work prior to the excited start with the team ready fired up to hit the ground running.
Our coach mentioned FIRST EFFORT, GETTING THE FOOTY AND RUNNING.
The first quarter saw 2 points to the Hawks and nil to City with Lain and Zac starting well and Subaru in and under. Eoin went in and had a good first effort for his possessions. The second quarter was very even and City kicking a great goal via Lain and a spread of possessions across the team with Will, Noah and Zac doing well and Dante at full back being an absolute powerhouse.
Half-time the coach made some changes which saw Dante in the ruck, Lain. Noah and Izzi putting on the pressure. Darcy toughed out a blood nose and he played out the game with courage and determination.
In the last quarter Subaru played great footy along with Darcy, Will and Zac. Strong play at full back by Corey saw him marking the ball and playing on like a champ.
The Hawks came away winners but they knew they had played a full game against a good team called St Kilda City Blacks.
