Match Report
Rd 12 vs Beaumaris 1
On a muddy ground Beaumaris took it right up to the Saints, and in the end we were lucky to escape with a one point victory. Rob offered an incentive for the muddiest boy at the start of the game, but it appeared that the boys had misconstrued the message as Beaumaris were in and under whilst the white shorts of the visitors were still pristine at quarter time. Beaumaris turned it on kicking three goals for the quarter. With the aid of a slight breeze in the second quarter we managed to keep Beaumaris goalless and put on one ourselves.
The second half was a lot better for the Saints. We dominated the centre with Howie smashing the ball out of the middle and managed to kick two goals for the quarter. This left us a kick down at three quarter time and with the first goal of the last quarter the Saints were in front. Although we had most of the play we found it hard to penetrate in the muddy conditions. A point to Beaumaris and then one back to the Saints saw us up still up by a point. The last five minutes were played mostly on the Saints half forward and wing lines, but we were able to keep Beaumaris out to hold on by the one point.
Coach Rob was happy with the last half effort and awarded Charlie Hicks the muddiest player award.
Final Score: Beaumaris 4 goals 4 behinds 28 pts
St Kilda city 4 goals 5 behinds 29 pts
Goal kickers: Lukas Rowe 1, Charlie Hicks 1, Howie 1 and Matty Mac 1.
Go City!
