The secretary's primary responsibilities are to act as the point of contact with the MSJFL ( the league) and to maintain club records with respect to a number of administrative issues. Specifically, the role includes:
- Attending, with the president, club delegates meetings held by the MSJFL and communicating any relevant outcomes from these meetings to team managers, coaches and parents as necessary
- Maintaining records of committee meetings
- Maintaining club insurances
- Maintaining records of team and club officials' accreditations, including:
- coaching accreditations
- trainer accreditations
- Working-with-Children accreditations
- Monitoring each team's fines and player penalties/send-offs as published by the MSJFL
- Maintaining records of award winners for each team, i.e. Best & Fairest, Coaches Awards etc.
- Apply for selected funding grants
- Act as central point of coordination for any match day incidents (e.g. reported players/officials)
- Guide and support team managers (particularly new team managers) with respect to interaction with the league and use of the Sporting Pulse system
